10 - 5 - 1 - Now

I saw this somewhere and thought it might be fun. For some reason I can easily remember what I was doing around Thanksgiving for all these years.

10 Years Ago I was -
In college living with three girls. Mike and I were dating. He was going to University of Illinois and I was at Illinois State. (We met at ISU, but then he transferred to U of I.) I was enjoying life as a college student and loving the life of being in marching and pep bands (I was also in concert band, but not as fun). I think it was exactly 10 years ago, our marching band played in the Macy's parade. We were the band right before Santa - "The Santa Band." At the end of the parade we split apart, played "Here Comes Santa Claus" as Santa's sleigh drove past us. I remember not being able to play, because I swear to God that was the Real Santa. There was confetti coming down, the sun was shining, and that jolly ol' man on the sleigh had to be Santa. It was truly one of the most magical experiences of my life.

5 Years Ago I was -
Married and we were just starting to think about having kids. I was working as a preschool teacher part-time and thought that would be perfect for having kids. For Thanksgiving we went to Kentucky (to see some family) and stayed at an old historic hotel that had the word "Tavern" in the name. But guess what, it was in a dry college town (do those two words go together? Dry college?) so there was no actual Tavern in the Tavern Inn. Mike was just a tad disappointed.

I was still teaching preschool part-time and loving the fact that I could stay home most days with Quinn. We celebrated Quinn's 2nd birthday the day after Thanksgiving (he was actually born on Thanksgiving Day). I was less than three months pregnant and very worried because that day I had gone shopping early and noticed some spotting later in the morning. A quick trip to the doctor proved that everything was okay, but I was still worried during Quinn's party and didn't really enjoy myself and was trying to follow the doctor's orders to "take it easy and rest."

Today -
I'm still married and still teaching preschool. I have two kids. I went shopping again this morning (6am Kohls - nobody was there - it was so nice.) We celebrated Quinn's birthday again today. Mike, Quinn, and I went to an Ella Jenkins concert and then out to lunch (Ed's )while Grandma babysat Liam. Later, we went to Menards to get some new lights for outside the house and sand for work. We were hoping both kids would fall asleep on the way home, which they did - so Mike and I took a nice Nap Drive. We finished up the drive with White Castle (nothing for me, thanks). After a quick dinner we put Quinn to bed an hour early (he was so over tired and so so so crabby) and Liam to bed a little late. I'm getting sick (sinus infection?) and going to bed early.
