Laugh With Us

I never like to post about Mike being away until after he's back. I'm just a little cautious about stuff like that.

Anyway, Mike had to leave for South Carolina Wednesday. I think the best way to describe the past three days would be from two different stories.

Mike's Story:

Mike found out about two weeks ago that he needed to go to South Carolina for a big "kick-off" meeting for some new project. His company wanted him to leave Tuesday, but since he knew I was starting back at work Wednesday, he did some investigating and learned that Wednesday's meetings were just going to be basic introductions and that he really didn't need to be there until Thursday. So, he worked it out to leave Wednesday and attend the Thursday and Friday meetings. Wednesday morning he headed to work only to find out the union was on strick and had to go to a hotel to get instructions on entering the parking lot and building. Worked that day and came home early to pack. The only flight available to South Carolina was a 6pm departure, which meant he had to race out of the house as soon as I got home from work Wednesday to make his flight. He made it in plenty of time, only to find out his flight was delayed. He used this extra time to visit the airport bar and relax. Then headed back to the gate only to find out the flight time changed to 45 minutes earlier. He missed boarding by about two minutes. Went to customer service and changed his flight to one the next morning at 9am. Came home around 8pm that night. Since he forgot to change our insurance he went into work early Thursday morning, changed the insurance options, and then headed to the airport. Got on the plane and headed to South Carolina. Spent Thursday afternoon and Friday in meetings. Friday night he landed back at home and couldn't remember where he parked his truck. Called me to see if I could find something with his plate numbers on it so that the airport people could look it up. (They keep records of stuff like that - good to know). I couldn't find anything, but did find plate numbers for two cars we no longer own. He then called I-Pass and was able to get his plate numbers from them and find his truck. He got home around 9pm Friday night.

My Story -

Found out Mike was leaving for a business trip the same day I had to start back at work. Worked all day Wednesday and was exhausted - hurried home so Mike could leave to catch his flight. Did the mad dinner/bedtime rush with the boys. Went through all day Thursday fine - worse part of the day was the dinner/bedtime rush with two crabby boys. For some reason Thursday night Liam, who has been sleeping 6:30-3:30 for over a week woke up at 8:30, 10pm, 12:30, 2:45, 5:00. I was able to ignore the 8:30 and 12:30, but fed him the other times. Quinn woke up at 5:30. I had to take a shower and get ready for picture day - so Quinn had to wait in his room. Went to work (which wasn't as bad as Wed.) and had to rush home so that my mom wouldn't have to drive in bad traffic to get home. With Liam's schedule off kilter on Friday - I tried to keep him happy/content until it was late anouth to put him to bed. We made it to 6:15. Not bad. Got through the mad dinner/bedtime rush - enjoyed some one-on-one time with Quinn since Liam went to bed so early. After Quinn went to bed I took some tylenol, washed my face, and went to bed very early. I had a killer headache and just wanted to close my eyes. Two minutes later, I got a call from Mike to look up his plate numbers.

So there you have it. It's pretty funny because pretty much everything that could have gone wrong on Mike's trip did.
