I've been tagged by Vdog to tell you all five things you didn't know about me. Depending on who you are you may or may not have already known some of these.
1. I sleep with a teddy bear. It's one my brother-in-law gave me way back when he was dating my sister. I was ten or so at the time. He gave me the bear and took me to the movies (Police Academy) to win me over. It worked and I still like him. I sleep with the bear by my belly - the only times I didn't was when I was pregnant and had a big belly. The teddy bear (who has no name other than My Bear) has been left in two different hotels and made it back to me both times.
2. I'm so thankful for everything I have in my life - my husband, kids, house, family, and my job. This thankfulness is tied to guilt - especially the husaband and kids. Why do I deserve a great husband and two healthy kids? I've gone through two healthy, full-term, pregnancies and delivered two healthy boys. I will, thankfully, never feel the pain of losing a child before ever meeting him/her - unfortunately there are people in my life who have and a tinge of guilt creeps up on me when I talk to them about my boys. Or when I complain about a bad night or bad day. There are also people in my life who haven't been able to get pregnant - again - that tinge of guilt creeps up on me. Why do I deserve all of this?
3. I'm always waiting for something bad to happen. Maybe it's because I don't understand how I can have so much good in my life. I don't know. I always imagine the worse and visualize, think about, how I would have to cope. If Mike goes out of town - I imagine that his plane crashes and he doesn't survive. I actually think about how I would sell the house, live with my parents, work full time, etc. It's awful and I hate it, but I can't help myself.
4. I love winter sports - watching, not participating. The Winter Olympics are my favorite. I've fractured my back skiing down The Bunny Hill and spent a week in a hospital seven hours away from my family. I fractured my tail bone walking (I slipped on the ice) to class in college. I tore a huge chunk out of my leg while sledding in high school - the person I was with turned to avoid a little baby tree and instead we went right into a bench! After Quinn was born in November I was so worried I'd fall while lugging him around - and now that same fear is coming back with Liam and the upcoming winter (see interesting tidbit number 3).
5. I like things to match. Today at lunch I had to make sure I used a lime green spoon to feed Liam because his cereal was in a lime green bowl. I also try to match up Quinn's spoons and forks to his plates, but it doesn't always work - so then I try to just make sure the look good together. Also - sort of related (since I only get five) - I like to arrange Quinn's snacks on the plate - usually a smiley face, but sometimes I'll do a little pattern with the blackberries and blueberries.
And now - I tag Christie and Leah and/or Dan (we haven't heard from you in awhile)! You're It!
