So, I now know three children that are five or younger that no longer have a Daddy in their life. Last year I had Lindsay in my class, who's dad died when she was 2 or 3, leaving her and a teenage daughter and his wife. This year I have Anthony in my class, who's dad is dead (not sure when he died), and so it's Anthony, his little brother, and mom. And then yesterday I found out that Michaela's father (I had Michaela in my class last year) died in a work accident on Friday. He was 37. He had three kids...all under 5. Just last year they had a new baby. I cannot imagine what that mother is going through. They've been living with her mom anyway, because they went to put an addition on their house and found out it needed to be torn down because of the foundation. And now it's just her and the kids. I was planning on going to the wake until I found out it was only from 9-11am...seems like they're trying to keep it small. I'm going to go to the florist today and see if I can find a nice arrangement to send to their house.
He was 37.
And such a good dad. He'd pick her up from school...twirl her around, just like a Daddy should do for his little girl.
He was 37. And healthy.
