Good Frame Great Frame

This was written a few weeks ago:
So the other night in class we watched a movie called, "Celebrate What's Right in the World." Take a look at the link - you'll be shocked how much this 22 minute video would cost you! It's a narrative by some guy, Dewitt Jones, that used to be or still is a photographer for National Geographic. We come to learn that "Celebrate What's Right in the World" is National Geographic's vision and purpose. Ah-ha - I never knew it, but it makes sense when you think about the pictures that magazine features. It was a very inspiring film and it made me want to take even MORE pictures. At one point in the film he talked about how the difference between a good frame and a great frame could simply be a few zooms away. (Okay, he didn't use the word "zooms", I can't remember what he said.) Anyway. I tried it with a picture we had taken of some flowers. It worked pretty well, but I haven't been able to upload it to post here for some reason. I'll try to post the picture later...

And this today: so we had our annual BBQ this past weekend. I was a little disappointed going into it because none of my old friends could attend. It's not that I don't like Mike's friends, I just felt a little under-represented that's all. And I would consider Mike's friends my own friends as well, it was just that none of our friends that were my friends first were able to come. I sound like I'm five years old or something. (Amy - I do consider you one of my friends...one of my good friends actually...you're just not one of my old friends that I never see anymore...you know???) Anyhow...we had a low turnout, but I was surprised how much better I enjoyed myself with less people. Not everyone knew each other so I thought for sure there'd be some awkward moments where nobody would have anything to talk about, but thanks to some good conversationalists, like Pete's brother, there was very little of that. I think Pete's brother should come to all our parties because he's able to talk to pretty much anyone about pretty much anything. And I'm not able to do that. And Mike is okay at doing that. And I don't know who of our friends is good at that. I just remember thinking Thank God Jon can talk about music, movies, math, etc... (who talks about Math at a BBQ...we did.). And I suppose it's not what he was talking about, but that he actually was engaging with the other people there. But even though that group left early, our little crowd managed to all talk to each other, which at that point was all old friends and one guy from Mike's work When we have a bigger crowd groups tend to go off into their own little parties and nobody talks to anybody that they really don't more, except for maybe some little introductions and stuff like that. Anyway, I'm just wasting time because I don't want to go and get ready to go off to work tomorrow morning. School starts Wednesday and we've got meetings on Monday and Tuesday this week! ugh.
