Banana Splits

What an exciting day we had today. Quinn is battling a cold so I was debating whether or not to go to our first class "wee ones." He woke up early from his nap making my decision easy - and off we went. I am a little dissappointed - the only reason I signed up for a mom and me class is to give Quinn the chance to play with toys we might not have at home. The room is basically set up for older kids...okay, not really, there are some toys appropriate for him. But, I was expecting to have more mats and soft big things he can crawl and climb over -- things that are too expensive for parents to buy, but infant rooms in day-care center often have them. Anyway...I was a little disappointed, but glad to see the "teacher" has good expectations of the kids. It's basically free play/explore for awhile, then she has some project set up that you can 1. either do for your child or 2. let your child make a mess. I choose to let Quinn make a mess. Today he painted some Halloween shapes using cookie cutters. He had a blast banging the cutters on the paper. I think the teacher doesn't like messes, because she was right there with a paper towel. I got paint in my hair, Quinn got paint in his hair. I was happy because Quinn painted and I didn't have to get the stuff out and clean up after him.
He did, however, have his first major accident. As I said, the room was pretty much for older kids and there was a play table and chairs (plastic, little tikes stuff). Well, he was pushing a chair and walking and BAM...the chair fell forward, Quinn flipped over the chair, and WAAAA. Split lip, bloody noise, and a teacher who seemed to never see blood before. Somehow, I kept my cool and quickly gave him a wet burp cloth (which I brought with to keep his snot under control) to chew on. After awhile he prefered to chew his trusty hippo. He's got a big fat lip now and all my symphothy, especially when he's eating.
I'm going to try and get a picture of the fat lip - it is his first injury.
In the mean time enjoy this picture of him from last week with a nice pony-tail on top of his head.
