No Wonder...

It's no wonder I haven't been able to keep up with the sorting/printing/scrapping of all the photos I take. I have well over 2,000 photos to sort through, since July. And I get distracted. Besides checking into facebook, the photos themselves get me. Here's a great example. I was sorting pictures from our vacation to the Dells and came across these of Liam. I just couldn't wait - so I virtually threw them into Storybook Creator Plus and created a 12x12 scrapbook page. The pictures were just too adorable to NOT do something with right away!

Christmas Project Number...oh I lost count...

I'm going to replace the page prints I have hanging over the mantel with these that I just threw together tonight (using my favorite program).

All that's left to do is send them to Costco to print. And then when I pick them up I'll get some more yummy soup and then some other stuff that I really don't need - like maybe a new digital camera, but yeah, probably not.

(Right now the large center frame above the mantel, as seen in the link above, is put away and there's a wreath in it's place. A wreath that may die soon because our spray bottle is broken. Of course Quinn suggested we just take it outside every morning and spray it with the hose - not a bad suggestion, except that the water is frozen.)

Q's Invite

So, along with a million other things I need to do before next week - I want to send out the invites for Quinn's party. If you've been following me on twitter - you know I was trying to decide on where to have this party - our family is large - lots of cousins - and most of them boys. Quinn wants to invite friends from school (and he's been invited to others). And our house is small. And his birthday is in November, which in Chicago means that either we'd have beautiful fall weather or it will snow. Who knows? So, anyway, we decided to rent a Log Cabin near a park. I'm hoping for nice weather so all those boys can go run around at the park for awhile. Not sure what we're planning for food - but I think the "goody bags" will be a "monkey mix" that the kids will make themselves - scoops of dried bananas, chocolate chips, peanuts (?), etc... Anyway - here's the invite - the background is white because I'm getting cheap and don't want to waste my ink! It'll be 8x11.5 inches. Of course I used Storybook to make it!

New Looks

So while I've been busy work with Napwarden, who, by the way, was great to work with. I told her my title, explained where it came from, and she thought of putting the tub on a pub sign. How fun is that? Anyway, while I've been busy with that, my friend, Amy, over at Mom, You're a Genius! has been working on a new look for herself. Go take a look - I'll wait here.
Cute itsn't, it? And guess what she used to make her header. Storybook! The program I've talked about here and here and here and here. And the program I've been meaning to talk about for all of you who have mentioned to me that you have No! Time! To! Scrapbook! And that's what I'm going to do now. AFTER the fact that I say, "Yes, Amy must really be a genius, because I had NO IDEA I could have used Storybook to create a header." All she did was change the page to custom page size, change the size, and voila - go look at her header. It's adorable!

And now, for all of you, who are clearly pretty well computer-savvy, and who complain that you don't have time to scrapbook. Here are a few reasons you should get Storybook!
1. You can put together an entire book.
2. You can use templates for the book and/or design your own pages. (You can also move templates around.)
3. Unlike designing a book via a photo-developing website - you don't have to be online to work on your book and you don't need to download for each book you want to make. Also - you cannot design your own pages with any of the photo-developing websites that I know about - they are all static templates.
4. The clean-up is a breeze - this is something I LOVE about using Storybook for projects. When the kids wake up, I just close the laptop and it's all cleaned up. Right now, I've got tons of scrapbooking stuff spread across the pool table in the basement - that I don't want to clean up because I'm not done yet.
5. You won't have so much stuff. This goes with the cleaning, but all you need is Storybook.
6. Creative Memories offers additional downloads with more paper, sticker, and embellishment designs for about $7. The nice thing is - once you download the pack - you can use the "stuff" over and over again because it's a file, not actual paper or stickers. You know? They just came out with a Disney Kit set and Babygirl and Babyboy stuff is coming in August. There's tons of other downloads you can use to give you whatever you need in your program.
7. You can print 12x12 or 8x8 sheets to add to an actual scrapbook. This is nice to do for the title page of a scrapbook - or some people do an entire scrapbook this way, but that, in my opinion is expensive.
8. You can make invites, gifts, announcements, etc. to send out to family and friends. I even made party favors for all the adults at Liam's birthday party!
9. You can design your own header for your blog.
10. When working in Storybook it's possible to do anything with your pictures to make them fit the page or look you want. Crop it, make it bigger, smaller, anything.
11. Although the books need to be printed via Creative Memories photo developing (very high quality books) the prints you design are saved as jpgs and can be printed pretty much anywhere.

Anyway, I promise I will not start doing a bunch of sales pitches. It's just that when a few of you mentioned how you'd like to get some memories into actual books for your kids and I know this product is totally for you guys - you get to work on the computer! And then, when Amy discovered she could use it for her header - my gosh, unless you already own Photoshop (is that the program I'm thinking of?) - this is perfect! If you want it - go ahead to my website and order one! It'll be shipped right to you - and who doesn't like to get a little something from the UPS man?

Any questions - go ahead and ask - I'll answer in the comments, but if you want an email from me make sure I can get your email address!
