Quinn's casts came off this morning. Actually, his first set of casts came off two weeks ago and this morning they took off the second and final set of casts.
I'm pretty much getting sick of saying, "He did awesome," but well, that's pretty much how Quinn has handled this entire situation.
The surgery? He did awesome.
The hospital? He did awesome.
Four weeks in casts with his feet elevated? He did awesome.
Two more (unexpected) weeks in casts? He did awesome.
Going to summer camp with his casts on? He did awesome.
Moving himself around? Awesome.
Seeing his icky feet for the first time today? He did awesome.
(And yes, they really are icky looking. In addition to the typical post-cast-dead-skin, he's also got four pretty large scars that are still healing. Icky.)
Anyway, I soaked his legs/feet in some warm water, washed them off a bit, and then put him into the tub - his first real bath in over 6 weeks! He did awesome, of course.
I couldn't resist taking this picture of the bottom of his feet. It's like brand new baby skin down there.
The doctor wants us to work on de-sensitizing the bottoms of his feet before he starts therapy next week, so I'll be preparing some bins filled rice, beans, and maybe sand for Quinn to stick his feet into. Although, honestly I'm a bit nervous about that because, like I said, you can still see where the incisions were made.
So, yay! The casts came off. He needs to take it easy this weekend, but is allowed to ride his bike (yikes!) and swim. No walking far distances, but I promise he is not bummed about that.

Great news! We could have Porter lick his feet when he's over to desensitize them...maybe that's not very sanitary!
Awesome! That's amazing. Quinn is such a trooper. We're so happy things went well. And, really, who could resist taking a few shots of the return of the baby feet.
And, yes, that should have been a question mark. Whoops.
Yay!!! I'm so glad to hear that he did awesome. I wouldn't have thought about having to desensitize his feet. I'm sure he'll do awesome on that part, too. ;)
