Day Dreaming

It was supposed to be a happy day. She had spent the morning listening to peppy Christmas music, dancing with her boys, and watching her husband struggle to make their old Christmas Tree look beautiful and full. She needed to run out to the store during naptime for some glitter for work - shiny holiday projects would be in full swing the following week and after 8 years her preschool classroom was running low. After successfully purchasing $50 worth of glitter, enough to last another 8 years, she hopped into her car and headed home to trim the tree.
The man whose car rammed into her little Ford Focus wagon couldn't believe what he had done. Apparently he just "spaced out" a bit and thought he had an arrow to turn. But he didn't. And now two little boys will have a hard time understanding why their mommy isn't coming home to finish decorating the tree.

Nothing in that second paragraph actually happened. I'm fine. But, do you ever do that? Picture yourself being in a horrible accident? Wondering what will be said of you after the fact? Wondering what the paramedics would think of the stuff in your car? Or how they will figure out who to call?
No? You don't?
Uh, yeah. Me either.

The only time I think about that stuff is if I'm wearing really old underwear. I always think "Please don't let today be the day that I get in a massive wreck and have to have my clothes cut off of me and the paramedics see my 15 year old stained, saggy Snoopy underwear."

I guess I think about it too if I have something weird with me in the car. One day I was doing a delivery of stuff that people had ordered from an "adult" party I had co-hosted. I was so paranoid that I was going to get into a wreck and then my car would flip over a dozen times, leaving a trail of dildos and lube all down the highway.

But I think the real question here is: You've got your Christmas tree up already!?!

Yes, usually when I'm driving over the rickety old bridge by my house. I picture the bridge collapsing and being stuck in the car because my seatbelt sometimes sticks. This is why I keep telling myself to put a knife in the glove compartment. I need to get on that.

Seriously, Christmas tree before Thanksgiving? You are on top of things.

Jen,
A niece of a good friend of mine was in an accident and completely out of it when the police and EMTs showed up. When they tried to examine her, which required the removal of her pants, she protested saying she didn't want them to because her "bra didn't match her panties".

That is really dark.

...and yes. But it is usually when I upload another roll of pictures and I'm not in any of them and I think... if I died today, would they even remember me?
