Bulky Haiku

First trip to Costco
Have you been there? It's crazy.
Seriously, nuts.

Hearing aides, coffins
huge plasma tvs, laptops
That's just one corner

books, movies, vodka
treadmills, play systems, and bikes
That's in the center

1000 ounces
of V8, frappiccinos,
and energy drinks

And the carts you push?
Big enough to hold two kids
both sitting up top

How much did I spend?
One hundred and forty bucks
And what did I buy?

Animal crackers,
pasta, mac and cheese, rice crisps,
pads and body wash.

Is that all I got?
Maybe, I don't remember.
Post Costco Coma.

****Okay, seriously. How many of you shop at Costco? Do you remember your first experience? That place was crazy and I was not prepared at all. Flowers, patio sets, clothes, video games, pool toys, frozen food, cereal, and more more more. Crazy. I only wanted to get an 8x8 photo printed before Saturday. And that was not possible through the mail and every other photo developing place had no idea how to do this. OH! Batteries. I also got all sorts of batteries. Triple A, double A, C, and 9V.***

***Oh - and if you do frequent Costco often - what are your favorite party foods from there? I've been to so many parties where the answer's always, "Oh I got it at Costco." So - what do you love from there?****

I've never been to Costco, and after reading your haiku I think I should stay away. Sounds dangerous! ;)

How funny! I have a Sams Club. However, I MUST ask, does Costco really sell coffins!?!?!?

Alright, I just left a comment, but sometimes of blogger my screen freezes before it shows up. So hopefully there won't be two dumb comments here.

Anyway...Coffins--too funny. I've never been b/c I'm afraid I'm going to love it and get a bunch (more) stuff I don't need.

I just recently got a Sam's club card. It's crazy and a little nerve racking to me. I do like the double seats for two kids though.

costco is my boyfriend. i totally love costco.

in fact, we don't consider it a real weekend until we've been there -- usually for the $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. or a mocha freeze!

we also call it the $200 store. for obviously reasons. just so's you know.

Hahaha, yep, that's Costco. I've been, but I think I'm the only person in the world who isn't in love. I have a great bag it yourself grocery store near me that beats their prices, doesn't require membership, isn't quite as much of a zoo and doesn't require buying in bulk. Then again, they don't have those hot dogs on the way out...

We have costcos but we belong to their competitor because they have better prices for pampers and formula. But wholesale club is a wholesale club. Purchases seem to make sense while your THERE.

"Of COURSE I need ten gallons of ketchup sauce. I mean COME ON who doesn't love KETCHUP?"

Only problem with bulk buying is not overusing. I bulk buy ziplocs and tend to be much more freely using them than I would if I was buying them a small box at a time at the grocery store.

Had a good giggle at your description of Costco. I buy a lot of meat there, excellent quality.

Great poem!

I like to buy all the snacks for the kids lunches in bulk, and they have great prices on fruit.

I have four kids, and Costco is a fun dinner out for pizza, or hot dogs!

shop at that joint once a week and we always gas up there.

Love me some Costco.

Stuff I love:
Stacy's Naked Pita chips
flank steak
and their roasted chicken is yummy.

Ours doesn't sell coffins, as far as I know. Though, they do carry coleman coolers as big as coffins...

Oh! Oh! I know! I know! I am a total dork and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Costco foody things.

1) 7 layer dip. YUM
2) Chicken Salad w/cranberies & pecans
3) Anything hors d'oeuvre-y from the freezer section
4) Flautas (from the open refrigerator cases)
5) Alcohol (great prices & sizes!)
