I have two confessions to make. Both of which I never thought I would think.
1. I want a minivan.
There. I said it. I borrowed my mom's to help with Quinn's field trip (had to drive 4 kids) and loved the view, the room, and everything. That and my mom's car was way cleaner than mine has been since Quinn was born. Also - at work - I see those minivans pull up to the curb, the moms press a button, and voila! the door slides open and the child climbs in. No need to get out of the car in all the elements. And since we saw snow flurries Monday, April 27th, the elements never cease in the Chicagoland area. So yeah, I want a minivan. Ugh.
2. I miss our HMO.
You'd think from my previous experience I would never even think those thoughts of our HMO. However, at the start of 2008 Mike's company gave us no choice than to use a PPO. (I think it's because of us - we really took advantage of the HMO - paying almost nothing for multiple ultrasounds, blood tests, feet casts, and more!) Anyway, now our copay is lower, but then we have to pay for stuff like blood tests; I just paid over $200 for some blood tests. I never paid that much for anything with the HMO. That and the copay at my OB/GYN went up - of course it did only go up $5, the same amount that the other copay went down, so I guess I really shouldn't complain. Especially since, hopefully, I'll only need to visit the OB/GYN once a year. Mostly I miss our HMO because I knew how it worked. I had the system figured out and could work with it. But who knows? Maybe for 2009 Mike's company will change our insurance again.

There is something appealing about mini-vans. If you had asked me 10 years ago if I would ever think that I would have laughed. Two kids later I'm starting to see how nice it would be.
I kinda want a minivan too. Sad. I know.
PPO gives you more freedom! heh. That's all I've got for ya. You never need a referral or dr approval to see a specialist, which is nice.
Yea working in the industry, I prefer PPO. I like my FREEDOM. And in the grand scheme of things, I never complain about price because if you look at your Explanation of Benefit statements you'll see how much the insurance company knockes off (ie. screws the doc).
I hated HMOs when I had them. The whole referral and sucky doctors, well, sucked.
And the new minivans are plush. We have one but it's extremely basic and it's for my husband's work. He hates it. He says it eats away his manhood while I zoom around in a Maxima.
It's embarrassing to admit but the first car I really liked was the Voyager minivan back in the 1980s. I've sort of sworn off minivans because the embarrassment runs so deep.
As for insurance...give me universal health care for all, baby! Have you caught Sicko? When I watched that movie I immediately wanted to move to France so someone would come to my house after having a baby to help with laundry and give me time to take a shower, etc.
Our mini-van, Honda LX, does not have power sliding doors. The model with power sliding doors cost more. I'm sure your Fusion does well on gas mileage. Our Average MPG is between 17 & 20.

Big Brother Brian.
