Nothing but some ramblin'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning Liam didn't wake up at 4:30am, or 5, or 5:30, by 6am awful thoughts were in my head. I couldn't ignore them. What if he's not going to wake up. What would I do? I'd have to finish report cards, wouldn't I? OR would my principal tell me not to worry about it? What would we tell Quinn? I kept trying to get these thought out of my head. I couldn't. He still didn't wake up at 6:30. I knew if I went in there he'd wake up and then be crabby, because it would be too early to be up for the day and too late to nurse and fall back asleep. Finally I heard him barely fussing at 6:50 and I rushed in there to feed him. Tears trickled down my face as he nursed. Why must I always think the worst of any situation? It can't be good for me.
Today on the news they said something about the Monday of the last full week of January is the most depressing day. Hmmm. I've been feeling kind of blah today, but I blamed the fact that I haven't left the house for two entire days because after the wind chill, the outside temperature never went above five below.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I left the house today to do some shopping and use up some coupons that expired today. I was at Kohl's and while looking around the infant/toddler section the only stuff that wasn't on clearance consisted of short sleeve shirts and SHORTS. My gosh. Did I mention that I was able to leave the house because it was 20 degrees outside? And I found nothing but short sleeve shirts and SHORTS. Okay, I lied - I found some shirts and pants for Liam for the fall - each for under $3. Can't beat that. And some stuff for me including a jacket for $8.

Chag put together 16 Songs About a Boy over at his place. He even put them together on itunes...I think everyone who knows more about music than me (that's everyone) should put together albums similar to this. I love it!

FOOTBALL alert - I really thought The Chargers had a chance to win against the dreaded Patriots. But no, apparently they were playing "not to lose" as opposed to "playing to win." My opinion anyway, but if you're far enough down the field and are at 4th down with 1 or 2 yards you should go for it, instead of kicking the field goal. They had plenty of chances, but almost always went for the field goal - and got it, but still, that gave them only 3 points, instead of 7. In the end, they didn't have enough points (hence, they lost), but I really think they could have won.AND THEN...AND THEN...the Packer's lost. Mike blames the coach calling bad plays, but I think Favre was just too excited near the end and didn't take his time and threw some bad ones. So now it's the Super Bowl - Giants vs Patriots. I'm really hoping the Giants win - nobody thought they'd make it this far and they did, so I would love to see them stop the Patriots from a perfect season (sorry to any New England readers I may have). I just think the Giants would enjoy a win sooo much more than the Patriots, but what do I know???

More football - but with Quinn! My sister gave Quinn a football for Christmas. That's all the kid wants to play now. "Let's play catch, mom. With the football. I'm gonna tackle you." Not only is that all he wants to play, but that boy is good. He throws with a spiral (sometimes) and catches most of the passes that are intended for him. AND...if he doesn't catch it he falls on top of the ball, just like his Daddy yells at the guys on TV to do when they don't catch the ball. He also likes to throw the ball to you and then run at you full force to tackle you and get it back. Maybe he'll be a kicker since that's really the only position where it's appropriate to get rid of the ball only to run and chase it down again. Who knows? Mike's mom didn't let him play football so now Mike is determined to live out his dreams through our boys.

I sent Mike out in the cold this weekend to pick up a new printer from Circuit City. We picked it out online, ordered it, and then picked it up. So cool. Our old printer was so old. So old we couldn't hook it up to our new laptop. But the thing still works, just has an outdated cable system or whatever. I love our new printer. I will not be printing pictures on it - I get all of mine from Creative Memories Photo Center. I was so pleased to see that Christie and Darren found Creative Memories to provide quality pictures. My favorite feature of this new printer is the fact that it copies. When I said I want one that would make copies Mike said I would never use that feature. I used it today while filling out Quinn's application for preschool (for next year). I had to copy his birth certificate. So there.

I still have 28 narratives to write for my report cards. I guess some people thought I was done after that haiku. But nope, I'm not done. I will be by this week's haiku (you know, since that's the day they go home).

Yeah, I was thinking the process of ordering photos from C.M. would be easier once you were all set up and got used to it. We've still got two sets left to compare but Costco and Shutterfly are definitely out. It hasn't been quite as cold here in the NW but when the wind hits you it penetrates every layer of protective clothing. I know it's super cold when I'm wearing H in the sling and he curls himself into a little ball and snuggles close.

Hey I understand about rooting for the underdog - we used to be the underdog... people STILL hated us then. Oh well!

I tend to think dark freaky thoughts like your first paragraph too. I used to mention it to my husband and he'd look at me like I was a nut! So I stopped.

Glad Quinn is feeling better!
