Last night we were looking at a very poorly written ABC book with Quinn. It's his new favorite and I hate it because it has stupid pictures with each letter. It could be so much better. Anyway, we'd look at each letter and ask him what the letter is and what the picture is. Not only did they use stupid pictures with each letter, but the pictures aren't easy to tell what they are (bad illustrations, in my opinion). So...we get to J, which has a picture of a Jaybird. That's right, a Jaybird, as though all children can tell by looking at it that it's not just any bird, but a Jaybird.
M - what's that?
Q - J for Jaybird.
M- good.
Later we get to the letter Q, which has a picture of a quail.
M - what's this one?
Q - Q for Q-bird! (might as well be a q-bird, since it looks pretty much like a jaybird.)
Later we get to the letter Z, which has a picture of a zebrafish.
M - And this one?
Q - Z for z-fish!
I also hate the picture for u - umbrella fish! WTF?

That is frickin' hilarious. But congrats to Quinn for being so darn smart using logic to come up with the z-fish and q-bird.
Aren't poor illustrations the worst?
Sounds like the stupidest ABC book ever, what ever happened to simple?
I managed to conveniently lose books like that after a respectable period of use.
