What Do You Use?

I'm currently using a Dell laptop from Mike's work. The problem? It doesn't like to open a new window from a link. It takes forever (which is why I don't always leave comments - sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't). This didn't use to be, so clearly something is wrong.
We have a Dell desktop in our basement. Every once in awhile, more often then not, it acts up. Not sure how to describe it.
So - we've been thinking of getting a new computer, probably a laptop, now that I've been spoiled. And we've been researching the diiferent Dells. Then last night, it hit us. Why the hell are we thinking of getting another Dell when the two computers we have in this house are Dells and we're having problems with both of them. And our previous desktop was a Dell and we had to replace it way too soon, in my opinion.
So we're going to start looking at some other options. We're a little nervous about going to a Mac - and not sure we want to pay so much. But maybe. That and I need to make sure my picture editing software will work on a Mac.
So - what Are you Using? What do you like most about it? What don't you like about it?
Thanks!

UPDATE: This is the software I use with my pictures - for organizing mostly, but also for editing. And it's PC compatible only. And what do I use the computer for? Mostly email, organizing pictures, editing pictures (though I do this), sending pictures to be printed, and sharing videos. Sometimes Mike plays simple games - nothing fancy. I'd like to be able to use it more do make DVDs with music and fun stuff - but we'd need to get a new video camera first.

What photo software are you using? I am a lover of all things Apple but it really depends on what you are going to use your computer for. I am not a fan of paying a lot more for a Mac and then loading it down with Microsoft software. If you're going to spend the money to get a Mac,
enjoy it and use it with all of the lovely Mac things it comes with - including iLife, iPhoto, iWeb, etc. You'll definitely appreciate the speed and the aesthetics. It's also incredibly easy to use - very intuitive (most times). Good luck in your search.
