Some might wonder why I don't just start trying a bunch of different formulas. To make myself look like an all powerful and self-sacrificing mom I could list all of the reasons breast milk is better for baby and how formula tends to cause more digestion issues for baby. But I'm not sure I believe all of that - I think formula can be very beneficial for Baby and used it right away with Quinn (one bottle a night) and would be using it the same way with Liam if he didn't have so many issues. Honestly, I'm selfish and - I prefer nursing for the following reasons.
My favorite reason - just look at this picture.
- The ease of never packing bottles, making bottles or washing bottles. (except for maybe one a day).
- The time I get to spend with Baby. It's especially nice to be able to use nursing as an excuse to get away with Baby during family get-togethers - it gives a nice break to both me and Baby. (I've also become more comfortable with nursing in front of others, but it's nice to use it as an excuse when the need arises.)
- Plus, this new diet may help me loose the last 10 pounds. Just this weekend I didn't eat the rest of the chips left over from Mike's football draft party, HoHos, and a pretzel or some other treat from the mall. All three of these I would have eaten easily pre-elimination diet - so this is going to stop my Habit Eating Habits.
So what have I eaten the past two days?
Saturday
Breakfast - rice cakes and a pear (on the way to the chiropractor)
Lunch - turkey breast and an undercooked potato (we never have potatoes, so Mike's figuring out the best way to cook them)
Dinner - a sweet potato (yum!)
Snacks - pears and rice cakes
Sunday
Breakfast - rice cereal with rice milk (I added sugar, it wasn't on the diet, but come on...)
Lunch - turkey breast and rice
Dinner - Yum! Rice pasta with zucchini, olive oil, and salt and pepper. (It was actually good! And we have leftovers!)
Snacks - pears and rice cakes
I find myself drinking more water than I used to. Hopefully we'll start seeing some grand improvement in Liam within the next few days.

Barbara's Puffins w/ rice milk = yummy breakfast. Also, EnviroKidz Gorilla Munch is awesome. I loke the Rice Dream Original flavor, Enriched.
I also would eat rice with light (in flavor) olive oil (looks more yellow than green) and sugar for breakfast, and sometimes would add a breakfast sausage (just check the ingredients tho).
Lunch would be rice with olive oil, salt, pepper and another sausage. heh.
Then dinner would usually be some kind of meat -- chicken, turkey (another sausage, lol) with potato, sweet potato, or RICE. heheheh.
I only ate Aidell's chicken and turkey sausages; I don't know if you can get them out there. My faves are the Mango and Chicken & Apple, and the Cajun, but that's prolly too spicy for Liam.
For quick baked potatoes, pierce with a fork/knife, then wrap in a paper towel that is damp. Microwave on high for 10-13 mins for two potatoes. Try 5-7 mins for one tater. Use a potholder to take it out as it will be VERY HOT! Squeeze it and if it gives, it is ready, if it is hard, turn it over and microwave another couple of minutes.
Eat with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Good luck!
