Poop

Poop. Why is it so scary?
So Quinn's potty training is really starting to go well. I basically threw the book out the window and have been doing my own thing. For example, the book says he should be telling me when he has to potty - and he does, but by dancing around and crossing his legs. I used to ask him if he had to go, which he'd say no to. Now, I say, Quinn, keep your pants dry, and he goes to the toilet and does it. I'm sure at some point he'll become more independent with this, but for now, he needs reminders.
Now - our only problem. POOP. He does not want to put his poop in the potty. We can tell when he has to poop, he gets crabby, walks around, whining, and for the past few days has gone in his pants. We used to make him do those stupid practice runs for poop, but then we got worried he'd make himself constipated, so now we just clean it up and say That's Okay. He would cry once he pooped, because he knows we want it in the toilet. Sometimes when we can tell he has to poop he will sit on the toilet for us for awhile, but we can tell he does not want to let it go. Just let it go. Good thing he only poops once a day - and I'm hoping this will clear up soon. The book (that I threw out the window) suggests putting them back in diapers if they seem afraid to poop in the toilet. That doesn't make sense to me...we've made so much progress with the peeing I don't want to go backwards. So we're just not making a big deal out of poop.
On another note - something I didn't think would happen happened. He stays dry through his naps and most nights! Dry through the night! Wow - he used to wake up with soaked diapers and now he's dry! We've been putting Pull-Ups on him for naps and nighttime (calling them sleep pants), but I think we might be able to go totally diaper free. We'll just have to see if this nighttime trend continues.
And now I need to stop procrastinating and work on my Final Master's Project. Really.
