Portrayal of Teachers
So, I'm taking a class called, "Portrayal of Teachers in Film" starting next week. I'm also taking a class titled, "Creating Great Learning Communities" Luckily, my district will reimburse teachers for part of the tuition, so long as the classes are approved by the superintendent and principal. So, I sent in my two requests and was DENIED! The superintendent did not approve the Film class. I suppose it sounds like a blow-off class with the title and all, but from what I've heard it's a tough class and movies are watched for homework and then discussed and there are plenty of graduate level assignments. I've asked the prof. for a syllabus, since approval needs to happen PRIOR to the start of class. I plan on writing my superintendent and asking him to re-think his decision. I will offer him the syllabus to look over and also offer to meet with him after the class to discuss how I think the class has helped me as a teacher in his school district. I wonder if the class was called, "The Effects of Media on Parents and Children" if I would have been approved for reimbursement. Either way I'm still taking the class. It fills some of my requirements for graduate study and sounds interesting. That and it's in OakBrook and on a night I like to go to class. Two things I was looking for while registering.

Hi there,
I'm a primary teaching student from Australia and was interested to read about your course on Portrayal of teachers in the media. I am currently studying how the media views teachers and whether or not it is an accurate view. I was wondering if you could write down some of the names of the films in your course, as I need to analyse a few. Or if you have any other useful hints for me.
My email is: bawdo_11@hotmail.com
If you could write to this that would be great.
Keep up the good work. Thanks heaps.
Joel (AUS)
