Today Quinn is 9 months old...can you believe it? I took him for his pictures at Picture People and was dreading the experience (he's teething, he hasn't slept well all week, and he barely got a nap this morning). BUT...for some reason he did SO good. I'd sit him down, the photographer would say his name, he'd look up and smile. I'd stand him up, the photographer would say his name, he'd look up and smile. Wow. I could not believe it. The problem was that then I had too many good poses to choose from when it came time to buy some. I did spend more than I planned, but less than I wanted to. We also went last week to Target and I got a lot of pictures from them (and they're much cheaper). Anyhow...I'm very pleased with this picture-taking experience and that doesn't happen often. Now...we've got a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Last time he barely cried one minute after he got his shots. Could we be so lucky once again?
I started back at work this week. It's been okay. My students seem pretty good actually...last year after the first day I knew I was in trouble and was thanking God that I would be gone for maternity leave. This year, all the kids seem pretty good and it seems to be a good mix (both the morning and the afternoon). Sure, I have a few that need to learn limits (or rather learn that the limits we have at school don't waver very much), but for the most part all the little kiddos seem really good. (Though, I'd still rather be staying home with my baby.)
We're struggling with some new sleep issues...and can't figure out what's causing them. Most importantly: he used to wake up around 5am, nurse, and then go back to sleep until 7am. Ahhh...so nice. This week, he'd wake up between 4:30 and 5:30, nurse, and then act as though it was time to get up. Wide awake...smiling, laughing, talking...and then crying for a good hour or thirty minutes if we'd lay him back in his crib. This has got to stop.
